Warm House Mix
by Chris on Feb.22, 2011, under mixes
A mix that I did on Saturday afternoon as a present for a friend’s house-warming party (did you see what I did there?). All vinyl, one take, no software edits… quite boring really. I was trying to do an all-house mix, and almost succeeded – as you can see from the tracklisting:
Eddie Amador – House Music
Mount Rushmore – You Better
Funky Green Dogs – Fired Up (Angel’s DDDDeep Vocal Mix)
Living Colour – Elvis is Dead (Elvis is in the House Mix)
Dreadzone – Captain Dread (X-press 2 Mix)
X-press 2 (feat David Byrne) – Lazy
Ruffneck Featuring Yavahn – Everybody Be Somebody (Original Vocal Mix)
CJ Boland – Sugar is Sweeter (Armand’s Drum n Bass Mix)
Ladysmith Black Mambazo – The Star and the Wiseman (S-Man’s Supafunkee Club Mix)
Winc – Thoughts of a Tranced Love
They Came from the Stars I Saw Them – Moon Song (The Gospel According to Mung 2012 Live at the Hacienda Version)
Keir and Daddy mix
by Chris on Sep.06, 2010, under mixes
Ok, here’s what happens when you let a four year old choose the tunes. Excuse the mixing as I also had a one year old climbing all over me. Some of the tunes are ones that Keir knows, and others he stumbled over and demanded requested that they get played… and a few were my choice!
Short mix this one, due to short attention spans!
Abba – Mama Mia
Terence Trent D’arby – Dance Little Sister
Fatboy Slim – Rockafella Skank
Elextric Six – Danger High Voltage (Soulchild mix)
X-press 2 and David Byrne – Lazy
Stone Roses – Fools Gold (Rabbit in the Moon mix)
They Came from the Stars I Saw Them – Moon Song

Yes they did. In Cyprus, no less… in a town called Polis at 2pm on 25 September 2008. I was there and played some tunes at the end of the evening (after most of the grown-ups were in bed).
Couch Boy – Rob & Claire’s Wedding

We Dance, Wee Groove
by Chris on Aug.03, 2008, under mixes
Following my involvement in We Dance Wee Groove at the Imaginate Festival, Edinburgh in May, I am pleased that we will be staging similar events in Glasgow, on 30/31 October and 1 November. I’ll post again soon with the exact details.
For now, you can enjoy this (slightly distorted) recording, from the last show in Edinburgh.
Wee Dance, Wee Groove (Sunday 2pm)
I started recording about 10 mins in. The signal is from the DJ mixer (so no percussion or crowd noise) but gives a good representation of the records played.
I love you, don't you know, baby

This mix is from March 2003. I’ll let the music speak for itself:

This was a good few years ago… Did I really play these records? Who knows. I’m cringing a lot as I type the track listing but, hey, this must have been what the kids wanted.
