FBI – Dub Version

by on Sep.28, 2009, under covers, tracks

I promised this a while ago.  It’s a dub version of The Shadows’ 1961 hit, FBI.  I was reminded of this after seeing Cliff Richard on the telly the other night talking about his forthcoming reunion tour with his famous backing band.  Despite being influenced quite heavily by Hank & co, I won’t be rushing out to buy a ticket (however my mother might :-)

Here’s some tv footage of the original

Incidently, this was also one of the first tunes I learned to play on the guitar.

A not-entirely-serious cover version of The Shadows’ FBI. Featuring programmed beats and noises (courtesy of Ableton Live) and a real guitar. I have a dubby version of this that I may unleash at some point…

Paint It Black

The last of my old stuff, I promise. This is an attempt to emulate The Avengers cover of Paint It Black (in my own, unique style, of course). Yes, that is my voice, in case you’re wondering…

Boogie Oogie Oogie

by on Apr.19, 2007, under covers, tracks

Ok, after setting this blog-thing up a long time ago, I’m finally posting something. It’s the Nightmare Jazz Cafe version of “Boogie Oogie Oogie”.The original was by disco divas, A Taste of Honey. Our version has been around for a while but I need to start this blog somewhere. Donna Swabey was the other, vocally talented half of NJC. Hope you like it.
